About RomanianGuide

Giddo Carpathian Guide

A slow-built guide to Romania, written by people who actually went there.

RomanianGuide is a long-term project to map Romania the way travelers actually experience it — slowly, with real check-ins, real photos, real notes from the road.

We don't scrape, we don't syndicate, and we don't auto-generate. Every published place, every featured trail, every guide on this site comes from someone who was physically there. When a traveler leaves a check-in, that's not a "review" — it's a small, honest note: I stood here, this is what I saw, this is what surprised me.

What we publish

Four kinds of content, all interlinked:

  • Attractions — places worth the detour. Lakes, fortresses, monasteries, viewpoints, scenic roads. Editorially reviewed before publication.
  • Travel threads — multi-stop routes that make sense as one journey. Day by day, from one place to the next.
  • Check-ins — short, dated notes from people on the ground. The pulse of where Romanian travel actually happens.
  • Guides — long-form essays. Region by region, season by season, theme by theme.

Why slow

Most travel sites grow by volume. We grow by trust. A new attraction takes time to vet — coordinates, photos, descriptions, local context. A guide can take weeks. We'd rather publish less and be right than publish a thousand stubs that nobody reads.

Who can contribute

Anyone with an account can leave a check-in or suggest a place. Editors and the small core team review submissions. If you want to write a guide, get in touch.

If something on the site is wrong — a typo, bad coordinates, a closed monastery, a road that's no longer there — we want to hear about it. Use the contact page.
