Mânăstirea Tismana, fondată în 1375 de Nicodim cel Sfânt, este cea mai veche mânăstire din Oltenia și una dintre cele mai importante din România. Situată pe o stâncă în mijlocul pădurii, are o arhitectură impresionantă și o atmosferă de tihnă desăvârșită.
