Mânăstirea Bistrița (1490-1494), ctitorită de boierii Craiovești, adăpostește moaștele Sfântului Grigorie Decapolitul, cel mai venerat sfânt din Oltenia. Pictura murală din sec.XVI, biblioteca cu manuscrise rare și tezaurul cu obiecte de cult medievale fac din Bistrița o destinație de pelerinaj importantă.
