Lacul de acumulare Porțile de Fier (1972), cu o suprafață de 700 km² și o lungime de 250km, este cel mai mare lac de acumulare din Europa de pe un fluviu natural. Pescuitul la somn, șalău și crap, croazierele pe lac și priveliștile spre malul sârbesc fac din lac o destinație turistică importantă.
